Marine Claim Process
After your call is received by our marine claims controllers, they will guide you through the processes required to make your claim and substantiate your loss. Firstly, you will require a Claim Form and this can be found under the Useful Resources section of this website.

This form will need to be completed and sent to our office by fax/post or email. Along with the claim form are some documents that will help the claims controller substantiate your loss. These documents are:

Original or certified copy of the Bill of Lading &/or consignment note
Original suppliers invoice/s, including packing list/s
Copy of claim letter on carrier, and their reply
Copy of delivery docket/s &/or receipt/s
Repair and or replacement quotes/invoices
Original insurance policy (if policy issued overseas)
Survey or other documents substantiating the extent of loss/damage
Photographs of damaged cargo

An estimate of the total claim quantum is required as it will give the claims controller an opportunity to appoint a surveyor right at the start of the claim rather than wait for all the documentation to be received.

After all the documents are received and surveyors report received (if required) the claim will be reviewed to determine policy coverage and amounts insured. Once settlement has been agreed to, a settlement will be forwarded to the claimant/insured and the recovery process initiated (if recovery available).
